Grace Shim, Lead Teacher
I am a Rock Hill native. I have been married to my husband Jae for almost 9 years and we have 2 beautiful daughters.
I was an elementary school teacher in South Korea. I was also a preschool Sunday school teacher for many years. Preschool is by far my favorite age to teach. I love watching these sweet children learn and grow. I love being a part of the ODS team!
In my free time, I love to bake especially with my girls. I am also active at my oldest daughters school. Whenever my family and I have a chance we go to the beach. The beach is our favorite place to visit!
My favorite Bible verse is: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NIV

I was born and raised in Rock Hill. After graduation from Northwestern High School, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science with my specialization being Early Intervention (Birth - 3 years old).
I have been married to my husband, Travis, for 14 years. We have two amazing children, Natalie (13) and Lucas (3). We also have a really cute yorkie pup named Scout (4).
I am so excited to teach preschool because kids are my passion. Watching them learn and grow fills my heart in ways I can’t explain. I love seeing their little minds expand and their BIG personalities develop.
My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. We love going on adventures, watching movies, and trying new foods. We recently found Alley 51 Food Hall in Pineville and we are obsessed! When I am not with my family, I enjoy going to estate sales to find vintage Pyrex to add to my collection and reading suspense thrillers.

I am so excited to join the ODS family as a 3 year old teacher! I live in Edgemoor with my fiance and our 4 children. Zaide is 12, Daxtyn is 9, Nalani is 2 and Kyren will be 1 in October. I studied Early Childhood Education at Winthrop, and have been a preschool teacher for 3 years. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, sports, doing adventurous activities with my family, and trying new coffee shops.
Preschool is my absolute favorite age. I believe preschool sets the tone for how children feel about school in the future, so I strive to ensure my classroom gives each child the best experience possible! I look forward to a fun school year teaching your little ones to become confident, grow closer with the Lord, and learn new things to help shape their future.
My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -

I have lived in rock hill my whole life and actually grew up at Oakland Baptist Church. I have 2 sweet boys and an amazing husband. In our free time we love to play outside, garden, and take walks.
I have always had a calling to care and teach children. I started with volunteering with nursery here at OBC when I was in the youth group. I have now been teaching children for 5 years. I am so excited to be a part of the Dayschool family! One of my favorite things about teaching is watching each child learn and grow in their own way!
My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7 - “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
